Ricchi, Imanuel Hai

(1668-1743)
   Italian rabbi, kabbalist and poet. He was born in Ferrara and raised in Rovigo. At the age of 20 he travelled to various Italian cities. He was ordained a rabbi in 1717; the following year he emigrated to Palestine and setded in Safed, where he studied kabbalah. Because of a plague, he left the country and moved to Livorno. He later travelled to Smyrna, Salonica, Constantinople and London, before returning to Palestine (1737) and finally Livorno. He wrote various kabbalistic works.
